Keep your vehicle looking new by keeping it clean.

Everyone loves having a clean vehicle. In order to keep it looking like new, there are a few things to remember when washing it.

The first thing to remember when washing your car, truck, or RV is that you need to use a lot of water. Also, make sure the water is flowing in a gentle stream as too much water pressure can grind debris into the surface and scratch the paint.

Never use household detergents on your vehicle. Make sure to use a detergent designed specifically for auto-washing.

Follow the instructions on the detergent bottle when preparing the soap. It is a good idea to have two separate buckets, one with soapy water and one with regular water, so that you can rinse your sponge after using it on the vehicle each time. This will remove the dirt and debris from the sponge and cut back on the risk of scratching it.

Make sure you wash in sections. It is easiest to start with the roof and work your way down. Rinse the car after each section otherwise a film may develop and it will be very difficult to remove.

Check all the nooks and crannies on the car when rinsing as you do not want to leave any soap on the surface. Also, make sure you wash all of your auto accessories, such as a bug shield, truck deflector, or vent shield.

When drying your car, make sure to use very soft materials. Used bath towels work well because they are soft from multiple washings. It may be easiest if you cut them into more manageable sizes.

Lastly, try to avoid washing your car in direct sunlight. The drops of water act like magnifying glasses when hit by the sunlight and also the sun can cause the soap to quickly dry into a film.
