Use WD-40 to remove tar and grime from your vehicle.

Tar and grime can cause huge amounts of damage to your paint and be nearly impossible to remove. If your vehicle becomes covered with tar, you will need to act quickly in order to remove it before any permanent damage is caused.

Removing tar and grime is not a fun or easy task but it can be done if you know what you’re doing.  While there are some sprays out there that claim to remove tar, one of the best solutions we have found is using something that you might already have in your garage, WD-40.

WD-40 works on most types of paint, but just to be safe you should spray a small amount on a part of your paint that cannot be seen. Wait several minutes and check to make sure it did not cause any problems.

Once you know that it is safe for your vehicle, coat the areas of your paint covered in tar and grime with WD-40 spray and wait 15 minutes. This gives the lubricant time to work into the tar and loosen it for easy removal.

Once done, take a soft microfiber cloth and vigorously scrub the area. It might take a few applications of WD-40 but soon the tar and grime will be nearly gone.

You should then wash the car with soap and water or visit a car wash to clean off any remaining residue.
