The 5 NASCAR Hall of Fame nominees who don’t belong in the first group of inductees.
Last week on the blog, we gave you our list of the 5 people who belong in the first group inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
This week we want to talk about who doesn’t belong in the first group of inductees. All of the nominees to the NASCAR Hall of Fame have made important contributions to the sport, but against the others involved these five just can’t quite cut it.
They are:

Richard Childress – Despite his success as an owner, Richard’s effect on the sport has not been nearly as great as many of his fellow nominees.
Tim Flock – Around during the early days of NASCAR, Tim’s 39 wins in 187 starts was impressive, but not enough to qualify him for the Hall of Fame.
Rick Hendrick – Like Richard Childress, Rick Hendrick is a great owner but he has not ultimately had as big an impact as others in this group of 25.
Ned Jarrett – Excellent driver, ambassador, and broadcaster, Ned Jarrett has seen considerable success with NASCAR. Still his accomplishments are not great enough for the initial group of 5.
Glen Wood – The Wood Brothers Racing team that Glen co-founded has had great NASCAR success but hardly enough to qualify Glen for the first year of the Hall of Fame.
There you have it, our list of the 5 nominees we would least like to see be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year.
